How to turn off Indexing in Windows 10
Windows indexes files and contents that allows you to search for a file in the windows search. For example, you can search for a file in your music library and it will show up in the start menu as libraries are indexed by default.
However, if you have a organized folder structure and don't usually search for files, you can disable indexing. Disabling indexing does reduce disk usage.
Disabling indexing of file contents
- Open This PC
- Right click on a drive and go to Properties.
- Uncheck the "Allow files on this drive to have its contents indexed in addition to file properties".
